   I just checked the Bern’s website and they state on the frequently asked questions that they do not offer any birthday or other special occasion discount or free meals.

   here is the text:

   Special Occasions
   Bern’s does not offer birthday or anniversary celebrations in any of our dining rooms. Since we believe the totality of the dining experience we provide at Bern’s Steak House is special enough on its own merits, we do not provide any additional services for birthdays or other occasions. With 24 hours advance notice, a celebratory message can be “painted” on a guest of honor’s dessert plate or even a custom cake created. Please call the restaurant at 813.251.2421 and ask to speak with the pastry kitchen if you are interested in making those arrangements. We have also had a very long-standing policy of never offering discounts on our meals.

    Red Robin IS still doing the free Burger on your Birthday. I signed up at the restaurant a few months ago and my daughter got her coupon in Dec and my hubby in Jan 2009. They were e-mailed to us then you just print and go.

    Hi! I also made my own list on my site since many of the restaurants aren’t in Iowa. I called most of the restaurants if they didn’t explain exactly what their “birthday surprise” was on their site. Victoria’s Secret also gives a $10 gift card birthday gift too! Thanks for the great article, I didn’t realize how many business actually give you freebies!

    Why don’t the restaurant establishments realize that by giving a free birthday dessert or appetizer that this will result in more business for them? People will dine out at these places just because they offer customers a nice surprise on their special day.

    Red Robin still offers the freemeal on your birthday. I receive the email for all people on my list. Baskin Robbins, Coldstone’s still do too. OCB and Famous Daves is also still good!

    Mcd’s only has certain states in which it gives out mcdonalds and me club enrollment. We are in WA state so won’t work for us. Sad..

    My daughter turned 3 a few weeks ago and we had a wonderful time spending her birthday checking out free stuff from your site. A lot of these require that you join their “birthday club” online BEFORE your birthday. We got a free meal for her from Red Robin, El Torito’s (might be a different name in some states), Denny’s, and Marie Callendar’s. Many of these places also allow you to use the birthday freebie for up to one month, so of course, we didn’t go to ALL these places on her actual birthday. We also got a free dessert at Outback and a $3 coupon, a balloon, and a birthday crown at Toys R Us. What didn’t work was Round Table (nothing free in our area) and IHOP (no free meal). Anyway, we had a LOT of fun. My daughter was thrilled! Can’t wait for my birthday on June 25th! Thanks for the site!

    I signed my whole family up for free admission to Disney on our birthdays and I have to agree, it really is a GREAT birthday treat! They email your confirmation to you shortly before your birthday (so you can’t lose it) & you get a cool button that says it is your birthday! All the employees wish you a happy birthday as you walk through the park! It really is GREAT!!!!! I hope they repeat this offer again!

I know I get all excited for something and I sign up only to find out that there isn’t a location near me. I’m not sure how difficult it would be to organize that, but I thought it would be a good idea.

    as of dec 31st 2009 disneyland no longer has the free admission for your birthday. now you have to volunteer 1 free day of community service to be able to recieve 1 free day into the park.

    Speaking of Joe’s Real BBQ in Mesa, AZ, as far as I’ve heard, he gives free birthday meals at all 3 of his restaurants in Gilbert, AZ: Joe’s Real BBQ, Liberty Market, and Joe’s Farm Grill. My friend suggested Liberty Market for breakfast, BBQ for lunch, farm grill for dinner and called it the “Birthday trifecta.”

    If you sign up for their e-mail club you get a free appetizer for joining and a printble coupon for a free entree(up to $15) on your birthday. If you are not part of the e-club you get a free dessert on your birthday. But it’s one or the other. you can’t have both. =)

    From what I was informed when I called them, Disney no longer does the Birthday Promotion….that was in 2009 only. The 2010 Promotion was Free Day to the first 1 million people who do some form of Volunteer work, and I am informed that this promotion has expired as well.

    Black Angus is cheap. They’ll take off the lowest-priced meal on the check, which may or may not be the actual birthday meal. C’mon, Stuart, you already have a $19.99 limit, so why the small-print bunk?

     6/28/10 I went on line looking for free stuff for birthday. To my suprize there were a lease 40 or mor places, here in florida, like TGIF, Baskinrobin,stickey finger,firehouse sub.      Bennigan’s has been defunct for quite some time, now.

     Also, signing up for Kona Grill’s Konavore list will provide you with a free entree coupon valid for 30 days from the day it’s printed.

     And why haven’t I seen Starbucks on this list? A registered Starbucks card gets you a free drink postcard mailed to your home.

     Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill – Sign up online for their Beach Club. They send a coupon for a FREE MEAL (up to $7) around your birthday. Coupon good for 2 weeks, sent 1 week prior.

     So I noticed some people said that Fuddruckers and Red Robin doesn’t give you anything. I believe it is only certain places because if you sign up with there emailing list, they ask for your birthday and I actually have received a free burger from both places.      Helzberg diamonds no longer asks for birthdate when signing up to receive e-mails. Therefore, I can only assume that the pearl earrings are out.

There are still franchise locations in 12 states licensed through a new Bennigans franchise company formed in 2008. I checked their website and found the email club makes no mention of any freebie for birthdays.

     Citing the economy as a reason to withdraw or offer rather puny deals such as a cup of coffee or a song by the staff or an ice cream cone doesn’t fly.

     The restaurant business has always been a really tough one and, of course, with people having money tight all the more reason to draw more patrons in. A free meal or say about $20 off a more pricey one would attract people AND especially one or several paying companions would be likely with the birthday boy/girl on ones birthday. This would introduce a lot of people to restaurants they never heard of or tried. (Personally I avoid some places which have rather repulsive names such as Blimpies or Fudruckers).

     Todai (International Seafood and Sushi Buffet) in Fairfax VA offers a voucher for a future free meal if the birthday person and another person eat there and pay full price ON the birthday (only). They walk away with your picture ID, but always bring it back before the end of the meal! Also, you must have at least one person with you paying full price to redeem the coupon (valid only 3 months from birthday). We signed up for the email club in advance – not sure whether that’s a requirement, but would be a smart move, ads and offers by email.

     Most, if not all restaurants give free desert on birthdays. Saltgrass gives you a free cheesecake slice (they’re owned by Landry’s who owns Rainforest Cafe, Joe’s Crabshack and others so their restaurants give out dessert).

     I don’t know if Godiva gives you anything on your birthday, but if you sign up to their rewards program you get a free truffle or chocolate every month, which is like having a birthday every month. And if you spend more than $10/month you also get a free gift (usually a 2 piece ballotin). I love their program.

Also cost plus world market will give you a $10 off anything in the store coupon and Jack-in-the box has new reward cards for every $1 you spend you get a point 50 pts gets you 1 free menu item of your choice (not combos, just one item, any burger you want, etc) also, you get 50 pts for signing up and 50 more pts added to use on your birthday. You use it just like a debit/credit card and its wonderful it just came out im using mine this morning since its my 35th birthday to get a free breakfast because our Denny’s is far away but still offers a free grand slam breakfast for your birthday for signing up. Im going to eat at Old Country Buffett which owns Ryans, Fire Mountain & Hometown country buffett cause i have a free birthday dinner coupon they send you email and print. There are a lot of legit up to date offers if you care enough to look for them. Ive done this for several years and I havent once had to pay for a birthday meal.      If you have a Starbuck’s Card, which is really just a reloadable gift card, and it is registered on the Starbucks website, they will send you a postcard close to your birthday that is good for a free drink. And once you’ve bought 30 drinks with that card (I auto-reload mine), you reach Gold status and will get a free drink for every 15 you buy through the year.

     mySmileage Birthday Gift

     The birthday coupon is a one-time use coupon attached to a birthdate range that has an expiration date that will be made available on your mySmileage account. Once the coupon is attached to your account it will automatically be redeemed over any Menchie’s money in your account on your next mySmileage redemption.
     Currently the birthday gift is a $5 Menchie’s coupon redeemable at Menchie’s but not to be combined with other discounts or offers.

     Great to know about these. Would be nice if there was a bit less food and some more stuff like Disney World. Sad that one’s a goner. I am on a limited income in FL and never do anything.
